A5 Development is a registered company in The Netherlands specialising in hockey coaching, team development and brand representation. Austin Smith, the founder of A5 DEVELOPMENT has more than 15 years of coaching and elite hockey experience which he has gathered playing and working in South Africa, England and The Netherlands. Passion, professionalism and innovation is what he has built his own coaching and playing career on and now through A5 DEVELOPMENT he aims to use those characteristics to help others reach their own potential.
A5 COACHING
As well as nine years of International playing experience, Austin is also an accomplished hockey coach having been the Director of Hockey for two years at Bradfield College in England. He has been coaching for over ten years in various countries and across all age groups. In 2016 Austin completed his Hockey Trainer 4 Diploma in The Netherlands, the highest coaching qualification in The Netherlands.
Presently he is the drag flicking coach of the MOP Ladies 1st team, HC Den Bosch youth players and their junior teams. He is also the ambassador for SportWays South Africa where he, in conjunction with SportWays developed the National Super Skills Challenge designed to improve players skills while having a ton of FUN.

One of Austin’s passions is to use his numerous hockey and life experiences from the Olympic Games, World Cups, Commonwealth Games and many other international events to inspire the next generation.
He can confidently give an intriguing and motivational presentation at your school, club or company on a topic best suited to your needs.

Austin has worked with both Star Sports and BT Sports as part of the dynamic commentary and studio teams over the past few years. His in depth knowledge of the game and experience as an international player afford him the chance to give the viewer at home a first hand experience what the players are thinking out on the pitch.
