SA Men face Germany in opening World Cup game!
The Men’s and Ladies World Cup 31 May - 15 June 2014 schedule was announced today. The SA Men will face Germany at 10.30 on the 1st June 2014 in their opening game, the woman also have a tough start against Argentina at 19.45. Steady start to HIL for Smith and Rhinos
The South African hockey captain Austin Smith and his Indian Hockey League (HIL) team the Ranchi Rhinos has made a steady start to the league with a lost and victory in the first two games.
The Ranchi Rhinos lost the first match 2-3 to Uttar Pradesh Wizards and followed that up with a victory over Delhi Wave Riders 1-0. Against the Wave Riders four South Africans were in action. Smith and Justin Reid-Ross for the Rhinos, while Lloyd Norris-Jones and Tim Drummond played for the Wave Riders.

Smith amped for Indian Hockey League
For the South African hockey captain Austin Smith the Indian Hockey League (HIL) is just the start of a very busy and extremely important 2014 that includes the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games.
Smith will once again represent the Ranchi Rhinos in the HIL that is based on the same principle as the Indian Premier League for cricket. There are six teams in the HIL – Ranchi Rhinos, Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Kalinga Lancers, Uttar Pradesh Wizards, Dabur Mumbai Magicians and the Delhi Waveriders.
The Ranchi Rhinos are the defending champions and Smith is excited with the prospect of defending the title successfully even though it will be difficult the second time around. …
